The study employed the use of situational analysis and in-depth interviews of child laborers in Region 10. The study local was pre-identified according to certain requirements such as the number of child laborers. These are the Provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Agusan del Norte which ranked as first, second and third respectively in the employment rate of children below 17 years of age.

The first phase of the study endeavored to have a head count of children aged less than 15 years old and those who are working, their earnings, nature of work and schedule of work.

The study contextualized child labor by probing what the child laborers think about his or her work. Moreover, the parent's profiles of child laborers were also examined and the situational analysis of the study local was described in detail.
